I love the idea of a fresh start. A time of new beginnings, and opportunity to change and improve on various aspects of my life. Can this be the best year of my life? It sure seems like it this New Years Eve day.

And then tomorrow comes and my enthusiasm is still in check. But a week or so later, I am back to my normal life and my goals seem to be moved to the back of my never ending "to do" list. I haven't really found a way to set goals and then make sure they happen. I like your idea of writing them down, something I never do. Breaking each goal up into yearly, monthly, weekly and then daily goals seems really smart too.

So I am off to make my list and give it a try. Maybe this year really will be the best of my life.

We recently stayed at a Courtyard hotel, and they had a notepad by the phone that said at the top of the page, "ACCOMPLISHED LIST. Much more satisfying than a to-do list, don't you think?"

And I DO think! So one of my resolutions this year is to keep track of the things I accomplish -- big and small -- so I can reflect on them at the end of the day, week, month, year.

Okay, I doubt if I'll stop making To-Do lists -- I'm afraid I rely on them too much to think about giving them up. But I'm going to try to switch my focus to the sense of accomplishment, rather than the never-ending list of things that have to be done.
