I too was glad to flip the calendar page this morning to November and wish the family a happy All Saints Day. We tend to leave our Halloween decorations up until after All Souls Day (Nov. 2nd), but then the jack-o-lanterns get packed away, along with all the goblins, ghosts, witches, etc. The fall leaves and the orange lights on the mantle will stay and gradually the Thanksgiving decorations will come out.

This is the first year that neither of my daughters have gone out trick-or-treating. One went to a Halloween party at a friend's house, and they stayed up late watching scary movies; the other went to a friend's house and just "hung out." So for the first time ever, I don't have buckets of candy to contend with... Amazing!!

If it's any consolation, my recollection is that most years, all the "good" candy got eaten up within a week; the rest sat around until they were willing to throw it out. Since almost all of the candy we bought to give out did actually get given out, we don't have a bowl full of leftovers to tempt us.

Happy November!
